Vacation At The Concord is a 1959 album by Machito & His Afro-Cuban Orchestra. Originally released on Coral, this was released by the Verve Music Group on 8 June, 2004.
Francisco Raúl Gutiérrez Grillo, known to the world as Machito, was one of the more well known percussionists from Cuba, and this is one of many albums he came out with in the 1950's.

Oddly enough, little is known about this recording. The producer is uncredited, as is Machito's own Orchestra. To make it even more interesting, while the title suggests a live recording this is actually a studio session, not from the Concord but in a studio 90 miles away in New York City. Maybe it inspired its listeners to go to the Concord. If it did, perhaps someone would have came back with a report on who the members of the orchestra were.

Nonetheless, a fine Latin-jazz recording from Machito and friends.

End of status report

A decade after Afro-Cuban rhythms set the jazz world on fire, we find the maestro playing the Concord, a popular lakeside resort 90 miles north of New York City. So it is tourist album, probably given away or sold as a souvenir, and the liners and photos tell as much about where to find swimming director Buster Crabbe as Machito. For popular Latin, it has the top standards, as well as a few Machito surprises. The former include obligatory covers of Perez Prado's smashes "Guaglione" and "Patricia," plus cha cha cha counterparts "Cocktails for Two" and "Rico Vacilon." Surprises include Johnny Conquet's "Estacy" and Italian-Chipmunks-bandleader Renato Corasone's "Torero." Only one title is particularly Afro-Cuban, "El Aji Caribe." It is an unusual album for Machito.
