When an artist as praised as Megadeth releases an album, you should expect nothing less than near perfection. This album is very, very, very close to perfection if it is not perfect. For a thrash metal cd to be good, it must balance two elements: power and melody. Of course, the scale usually tips in favor of power. This album melds the two together in a perfect combination. "Dialectic Chaos" is the opening track to this album with some very complex riffs that somehow connect together well enough to keep from sounding like total improv. The song after that one, "This Day We Fight!", is so vulgar and thrashy, you'll be lucky to keep your sanity by the time it's over. There is such power incorporated into this album, it's astounding. Each song is a perfectly molded model of what every thrash metal band wants to sound like, sculpted by veteran masters of the art. Each track bursts with brutality and well-written complexity that makes Metallica's latest release sound more like Greed Day. Lyrical themes: most of the songs on this album feature lyrics that accuse the government and certain political parties of attempting to take away the average American's constitutional rights. I've never liked Dave Mustaine's fear of a government take over (let's face it, we're gonna get sold to China), but the lyrics make you think. Some people may find such lyrics to be annoying (like the people repealing our first and second amendment rights as you read this), but if you can look past it, I think you'll enjoy this cd. I could go on forever about how amazing Megadeth's "Endgame" is for hours and hours, but the face of it is this cd is one booze chuggin', weed chewin', emo killin', hell of an album. No thrash metal collection is complete without this. If you like thrash metal, I recommend you buy this immediately.
