The Turkish musician Okay Temiz introduces one of his many musical expressions with jazz influenced by world music on this album. OKAY TEMIZ is considered the most important Turkish jazz musician, who worked together with musicians like Don Cherry or Bobo Stenson in the seventies. OKAY TEMIZ settled in Sweden, joined the Turkish-Swedish band SEVDA, which was very popular throughout Scandinavia, and eventually formed his own band ORIENTAL WIND, which will soon be available in two different editions, one "Swedish" and one "Swedish". Anyone listening to recordings from the days of Don Cherry's' Eternal Rhythm Orchestra ', McGregor's' Brotherhood of Breath' or TEMIZ 'ORIENTAL WIND will notice the still cautious approach to the' foreign materials' that had become a fusion to ethno-jazz not yet taken place. On the other hand, the recordings from the beginning to the middle of the seventies (the German band of rock music and the Finnish band Piirpauke should be mentioned in this context) have their charm also in this searching and therefore eminently sensitive way of dealing with the Ingredients: Sometimes extremely fragile, as if gliding over a thin layer of ice, one balances with the sounds and rhythms, sometimes the opposites collide in a compact clattering manner. Here pioneering spirit and curiosity broke new ground, and you can hear that in the early shots of ORIENTAL WIND. The core team of ORIENTAL WIND included for a long time the Swedish Reeds player Lennart Åberg and the Turkish Ney player Haci Tekbilek. In addition, numerous well-known musicians such as Johnny Dyani, with whom TEMIZ also made duo recordings, or the former embryo guitarist Roman Bunka, to name only two, cavorted in the band of the drummer, who has long since become the percussion instruments of the world (including the Berimbau from Brazil, which he still plays in an e-version today) had conquered. ORIENTAL WIND became a springboard for OKAY TEMIZ as it traveled all over the world, making guest appearances in India (as was the case with the 1980 Jazz Yatra Festival in Bombay), performing at festivals all over Europe and making a name for itself.
