This fictitious studio group was masterminded by Richard A. Hewson (b. 17 November 1943, Stockton-on-Tees, Teesside, England). In the late 60s arranger, conductor and multi-instrumentalist Hewson worked with James Taylor and Herbie Hancock and arranged hits such as the Beatles ‘The Long And Winding Road’ and Mary Hopkin’s ‘Those Were The Days’. His fame as an arranger spread and in the next decade he worked with artists including Supertramp, Diana Ross, Carly Simon, Art Garfunkel, Leo Sayer, Al Stewart, Chris DeBurgh, Fleetwood Mac and Chris Rea. In 1976 he decided to produce, write and play on his own records under the name RAH Band. In 1977 the instrumental ‘The Crunch’ on Good Earth climbed into the UK Top 10. Three years later ‘Falcon’ hit the Top 40 and started a long string of dance hits for the band. In 1985 ‘Clouds Across The Moon’, with vocals by his wife Liz, gave him a second Top 10 single. Over the years the band have chalked up seven UK hits and have had records on a myriad of labels including DJM, KR, TMT, Sound, RCA, Supreme and Creole. Hewson, who in the 80s worked with Toyah and Five Star and produced big hits for Cliff Richard and Shakin’ Stevens, now concentrates on writing and producing music for UK television shows and advertisements.

This album is probably THE most essential album any discerning Rah Band fan should own. It contains above all the worldwide smash hit single "Clouds Across The Moon" in its full glory 12" mix, also the singles "Are You Satisfied?" and "Sorry Doesn't Make It Anymore" The stand out tracks on this album though, must be the sleepers "Night Wind" and "Mystery Boy" both of which became club classics in their own right, both being on promo single, although not official releases. This album charted worldwide and contains each track in its full 12" mix.

Although, as UK manager for Rah Band, I would point out that this album never got an "official" release by RCA on CD, it does exist, although it was never fully distributed. Interesting to see if you can find one! Happy Hunting!

So much is to be said of this great album - words can often fail… I only acquired a vinyl copy of this a couple of years ago, but like most people, had fallen in love with the massive 1985 hit 'Clouds Across The Moon'. The album is appropriately titled, since it is a 'mystery' why people are paying up to £200 for the scarce CD! However, that's not a criticism, since its value cannot be underestimated! I was lucky to get my vinyl LP brand new for just a fiver twenty years after its original release - can't be bad!

Eight very long tracks on this, but all have a place in my heart. One closest is 'Night Wind' since I love the night, and thus has a special meaning for me. It's not often these days one listens to the words of songs, but they all have great lyrics. I think the singer (whoever she is) is fantastic! Some may say not the best voice in the world, but nobody could sing those songs quite the way she does!

I hear many people like this album/band, and are buying it as a result of its success on the dance floor; I've never been near a dance floor, and so I guess it means many things to all people…

This album is best listened to during the night (preferably after midnight) with headphones and alone; I don't think it is something that can be shared.

Hope you manage to obtain your copy - and may we all BEG RCA to re-issue this on CD soon, and might I add WITHOUT the so-called 'bonus' tracks which so often ruin original format re-issues - PLEASE!!!
