Eternal long-haired losers who also have some of the best tunes, this semi-legendary band has only released 6 albums in its long existence but each of them is a bonafide classic. The ASTRONAUTS 2nd album ALL DONE BY MIRRORS judged by those who heard it as among the best albums of all time was a stunning collection of explosive pop songs and traditional folk ballads recorded at a time when all their gigs were with anarchist punk bands.

A review
Where do I begin with this record…seriously?
First off, if you looking to get into this band, start with "Peter Pan" and go from there (besides when getting into a band, you should always start at the beginning :) ).
Secondly this particular album is very folky, violon, keyboard, sax, yet punk at the same time, so it an acquired taste in my opinion, but then again this band is an acquire taste.
To the album, in the short time I recieved the original Vinyl, it has become one of my all-time favorites for the complete originality of it (and it did recieve a 5-star when released, almost impossible for a anarcho-punk band to get) and the lyrical content.
The lyrics are well-crafted and timeless, nothing really dates this album. If and when you listen to this album the first thing you hear is the violin on "Seagull Mania" which either will set you off or intrigue you, hopefully the latter effect will occur to you. The whole first side is strong, not a single song is out of place or weaker than the other. The second side is more somber sounder (A side is called Extrovert side, and B side is called Introvert side, pretty clever). "Gothic Rooms" is a great song, just fantastic and well as "Latin and Greek" the only purely "upbeat" songs on that side. Not to say the others are not, but they are a bit more folky and slower in tempo. The only thing about it, is the last song "It's All Done By Mirrors" is on a different volume and is softer than the other tracks, whether on purpose I can't tell, its a great song, but it just softer than the rest.
Even today, this one of the best albums I've heard for the complete audicity to produce a punk ablum with a folk sound, violon and sax, it truly sets itself apart from the whole scene back then in Britian, which is probably why they are not remembered and are tagged as the "best kept secret in the past 30 years".
Trust me they are.
