Seit mittlerweile neun Jahren gibt es The Slow Show, die Indierockcombo aus Manchester, die ihr Motto schon im Namen trägt.

Es geht langsam zu, ihre Songs sind entschleunigend, voll wunderschöner Melancholie. Das gilt auch für ihr neues, mittlerweile drittes Album »Lust And Learn«, den Nachfolger von »Dream Darling« aus dem Jahr 2016.

Zwölf Songs haben Rob Goodwin (Gesang, Gitarre), Fred Kindt (Keyboard), Joel Byrne McCullough (Gitarre) und Chris Hough (Schlagzeug) dafür aufgenommen.

»Sharp Scratch« und »Hard To Hide« heißen die ersten beiden Singleauskopplungen. Diese und der tiefe Sprechgesang Goodwins lassen einmal mehr Vergleiche mit Künstlern wie The National oder Tom Waits aufkommen. Dennoch behalten The Slow Show auf »Lust And Learn« ihren ganz eigenen musikalischen Kurs bei: Indierock trifft orchestrale Arrangements und jazzige Töne.
