V.A. - Bringing It All Back To Duluth Does Dylan (2016)

In his song “Handy Dandy,” Duluth-born, Hibbing-raised Bob Dylan writes, “Handy Dandy, controversy surrounds him. He's been around the world and back again, something in the moonlight still hounds him.” Controversy has often surrounded Dylan, as he turned from acoustic to electric in 1965, or to Christianity in the late 1970s. He has always moved forward, seemingly unconcerned with what people think or expect of him. He does what he wants to do. He once said, “An artist has to constantly be in the state of becoming.” Since the release of the first Duluth Does Dylan in 2001, Duluth musicians have released Duluth Does Dylan Revisited (2006), Another Side of Duluth Does Dylan (2011), and now Bringing It All Back to Duluth Does Dylan (2016). These albums have, in a sense, become a time-capsule of the growing and ever-changing Duluth music scene over the past 15 years. Contrary to what some believe, Bob Dylan is both proud and fond of his roots in northern Minnesota. Duluth is proud of its local artists and musicians. This latest CD is a tribute to Duluth’s musicians and the music of Dylan, who many consider one of the most influential Americans of the 20th century (and into this 21st century).
