After having attracted enthusiastic reviews with their debut album 'Shadows Over Lothadruin' in 2012, followed by many shows all over Europe with renowned acts such as Wintersun, Finntroll and Epica to name a few, the band started working on the follow-up with the supervision of musician and producer Cristiano Bertocchi (Labyrinth, Vision Divine), combining their classical background with powerful guitars, huge orchestrations and epic atmospheres. Cristiano was so impressed with the new material that he decided to join the band as their new bass player.

Notes
Although the enticing cover art immediately brings Blind Guardian to mind, the songs behind it often sound more in line with Symphony X and Pyramaze circa Immortal with mercifully non-castrato vocals layered over deftly composed keyboard lines and chugging guitars that can often be described as “heavy.” The keys have a more Blind Guardian's “medieval” feel than Pyramaze, and the guitars don't often engage in the Dream Theater-isms present on Symphony X albums like Iconoclast, but contrary to their name, Wind Rose's power metal isn't too airy. While the keyboards do get a bit flowery at times, the chunky guitars tend to anchor it down with solid background riffage that gives the plentiful hooky keyboard and vocal melodies ample room to shine whilst playing down the cheese factor.
“Spartacus” has perhaps the most epic choral vocals on the album as well as some of the best orchestrations, while “Rebel and Free” has the strongest use of folk melodies, complete with Francesco sounding more like a folk singer on that one song, and doing an excellent job of it.
