Only rarely does an act from the small Swiss Alpine republic get lost in the big, wide world. With Wintershome joins Boy another band, which unquestionably has the makings of an international career. Her semi-acoustic, handmade folk-pop, the first single "Up To You" and the other songs of the debut album, are musically based, among others, on the American Westcoast sound of the 1970s. In particular, the wonderfully easy and dreamlike safely intoned vocal chants of the three female and three male voices, reminiscent of the harmonic sentence songs of many Californian bands in the era of the Summer of Love, the Wallisern but gets the whole thing but a very own twist, less psychedelic, rather the contemporary pop of a Zaz or Mumford & Sons ajar. In September 2017, the sextet withdrew for a month to the prestigious Bear Creek Studio (Eric Clapton, Foo Fighters) in Washington state. There, in a converted 19th-century wooden barn, set in a picturesque wooded area north of Seattle, the "nature children" felt at ease.
The environment certainly contributed to the success of "Around You I Found You" as well as the great experience of producer Ryan Hadlock. The Grammy winner, who already supervised The Lumineers, Vance Joy and Brandi Carlile in the recording room, immediately recognized the potential of Wintershome. "I have the responsibility to capture the strengths of a great song," he describes his task in the production process. According to this philosophy of sound, with the technological studio means of our days always to work out the essence of a song, he has focused in the case of Wintershome on their catchy melodies and lyrics and uncovered qualities that international comparisons need not shy away.
