Jazz / Jazz Funk / Groove / Drums
Purdie was one of the king drummers in the 70s funk music era. Often over-looked but never duplicated. However, it is rare that you find a LIVE (as well as very well engineered and recorded) funk session. The album has some great guitar, sax, and drum solos - with a solid funk underlying groove. Just look at the set-list - including standards from the Meters as well as James.
I you love funk'n tight jazz, you love the Meters, the JBs, Parker, etc - this is LIVE and a great recording.
I am just surprised no on else has reviewed this. Note, probably because the initial release was an import only.
