Recalling Massive Attack and modern maestros like Disclosure, Sydney electronic duo Boo Seeka use piano and synths as essential building blocks, creating moody, atmospheric dream-tronica. Their vocals—tender and distant—boost the atmosphere. “Turn Up Your Light” is a gentle ballad complete with la-la-la’s displaying their pop credentials. “Mission Man” draws from classic hip-hop. “Does This Last” and “Calm Symphony” are potent aphrodisiacs and sublime crush notes, perched atop simmering electronic beds.

BOO Seeka’s synths and beats keeps the energy sizzling like a neon sign on the Miami strip. The Sydney hip-hop-psych-soul project begun an outlet for a couple of musical experiments, a testing ground for new sounds. And it’s growing, multiplying and producing delicious sounds.

To date, Boo Seeka has accumulated over 10 million Spotify streams and dominated national airwaves with singles like ‘Oh My’, ‘Deception Bay’, ‘Fool’ and their 2015 debut single, ‘Kingdom Leader’, which peaked at #6 on the Australian iTunes Electronic chart, and was premiered and featured as Song of the Week on HillyDilly.com. The track made blog and radio waves abroad with features on The Music Ninja and LaBelle Musique and received airplay on KCRW (California), and on XFM in the UK. Boo also managed to reach #50 in Triple j’s 2015 Hottest 100 with ‘Deception Bay’ and snagged a J Award nomination for Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2015.

A combination of pulsating synth sounds that bed down layered textures of electronic bass and percussive beats. Influenced by the layerings and experimental beats of Major Lazer, the cool swagger of J-Dilla and The Seed 2.0’s Cody Chestnutt’s soulful vocal delivery. BOO SEEKA snaps up melodies and bounces them off hip-hop/R&B driven grooves and beats that vibe.

2015 saw Boo Seeka tour Australia nationally with Kim Churchill, Sticky Fingers and SAFIA. Supporting each band on their respective National Tours. Followed by 2 SOLD OUT Headline single tours of the east coast. They’ve supported the likes of DMA’s, Jarryd James, Kovacs in the EU and UK and have also showcased at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.

In 2016, they sold out their own national headline Oz tour and went back to EU and the UK for their own run of shows and festivals. After that was done, they came back home to play on home soil for a national single tour. Boo Seeka, being the hardest touring bands in Oz at the moment, also managed to squeeze in a 3 month long tour with Cherub and Frenship in October - November of 2016.

No strangers to a jam packed touring schedule, 2017 saw them return from a tour of the United States, including an appearance at SXSW then jump on a sold out 27 date tour around Australia in support of their single. Bringing the total show count to over 40 performances in just 6 months. The duo’s infectious live performance have seen sold-out headline tours and festivals in Australia and abroad, including appearances at Groovin The Moo, Splendour In the Grass, Southbound Festival, Party In The Paddock and appearing at Gum Ball and The Big Pineapple Festival earlier this year.

After two years of touring and release singles, Boo Seeka are set to release their first full length album titled, ‘Never Too Soon’ (out August 04, through Sureshaker). They’ve been recording on and off the road. Produced by long-time collaborator Ian Pritchett (Bootleg Rascal & Lyall Moloney), fans can expect a noticeable development in the duo’s sound, with band member Sammy Seeka describing Never Too Soon as, “This album best reflects our recent life experiences, encapsulating all we’ve encountered over the past two and a half years. Our recording process for the album followed no structure; we recorded vocals in carparks, tour buses and our studios in Sydney. One vocal loop was recorded into an iPhone on stage in a theatre in America. Ultimately every idea and piece of music we had come together in my bedroom studio, we then took it to our producer Ian Pritchett’s garage studio and that’s where the songs came to life.”

The first single off the album, ‘Does This Last’, navigates through a bed of spacey synth and string layers. Building on their eclectic soul-tronic sounds. The single has been placed on high rotation on Triple J and have been featured on a few Spotify AU/NZ playlists (including 5 weeks on the Indie Mixtape playlist).

Their most current single ‘Turn Up Your Light’ got its radio premiere on Good Nights on Triple J. A second taste of what’s to come on the album. The track was described having, “Intoxicating vocal harmonies and rich atmospherics.“ - Purple Sneakers. With a freshly developed sound and an impressive live show to follow, 2017 looks to cement the duo as a force to be reckoned with.
