Dan Burnett - Small World (EP) (2017)

What a great treat to listen to such a beautifully put together album. Singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist, Dan Burnett, has produced an exceptional EP 'Small World' on which he is on vocals and plays all instruments. From Harrogate, Dan is normally associated with being a superb keyboard and piano player of blues and soul, but has real hidden talents. All the tracks, apart from the bonus track, are self penned.

The first number on the EP is the name sake 'Small World', a brilliant stomping country blues with great guitar, harmonica and superb piano. Love it! This is followed by a beautiful soulful track 'Battle Scars'. Poignant and personal, with vocals sung with passion with harmonies to die for, beautifully played guitar and an overlay of piano and keys.

On a happier note is the lovely soul drenched song 'Last First Kiss'. A full band sound with guitar and keys and excellent percussion. This leads on to a beautiful piano led ballad 'Time Has Come', with plenty of personal meaning and superb vocals. Dan's voice has a way of making the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. Just lovely.

The final track for the hard copy of the EP is 'Reason For Living'. Plenty of excellent harmonies, piano driven with a soulful take and added keys. The bonus track for digital download only, is Dan's fantastic version of 'All Along The Watch Tower' with a moving treatment of this iconic track. It certainly is Dan making a statement, just fabulous, one of the best takes I have heard.

A superb album, so well worth a listen.
