Rares sont les musiciens virtuoses qui réfléchissent et agissent en collectif et qui croient à l’esprit de groupe. Patiemment, avec persévérance et obstination, Abdoulaye Traore porte le projet « DEBADEMBA », et en a fait en quelque années une des formations les plus appréciées de la nouvelle génération d’artistes d’Afrique de l’Ouest.
Après deux albums produits par Chapa Blues, DEBADEMBA revient avec un nouvel opus « Sanikoya » produit par Dankama (Le nouveau label créé par Abdoulaye Traore). Cet album met un point d’honneur à rappeler les forces positives qui ont permis à des générations entières de vivre en paix en Afrique de l’Ouest. Ce nouvel opus, nous emmène à travers l’Afrique avec des rythmiques allant du djoulaba (Côte d’Ivoire/Burkina Faso) au ziglibithy/ bikoutsi (Côte d’Ivoire/Cameroun) en passant par le borowi (rythme traditionnel que l’on danse avec des masques), le takamba (Nord du Mali), le badjoulou (rythme joué pour les grands hommes dans toute l’Afrique de l’Ouest) et le blues-rock.
Dans cet album Abdoulaye Traore, s’entoure de Mohamed Diaby (chant), Bisou Bass (basse), William Ombe (batterie), Adama Bilorou (percussions), Virna Nova (guitare sur « Ah les femmes »), Malaika Lokua (chœurs sur « Dakama » et « Mandela »), Valentin Ceccaldi (violoncelle sur « Mandela ») et invite Ben L’Oncle soul pour deux featuring sur « Sanikoya » et « Saikain ».
