English
After "Photos of Ghosts" in 1973 ennobled by collaboration with lyricist Pete Sinfield of King Crimson, the contract for the Manticore, and a record as the Isle of xenophilous Nothing more so it can not be, was no longer a mystery that Premiata Forneria Marconi would have implemented their attention to the commercial English-speaking countries. England was already conquered by the British tour in May 1974 and that was how come the summer, while "The World Became the World" was already picking the overseas market, the idea took shape of a U.S. tour . still time to participate in the Parco Lambro Festival in Milan in June and the group was ready to put in the hands of the powerful manager Frank Puglia Barsalona origins, the American counterpart Franco Mamone.

P.F.M. - Cook - Live in USA 1974 (Remaster 20 bit on 1996)

Originally planned for only 60 days, staying in America extended much further, challenging the stability of the musicians.
The original schedule included 15 concerts to be held in July and August in the U.S. and Canada, but the success of the group ordered to return in November and this time indefinitely.
During his stay in the U.S., the Premiata had to endure many hardships including the effort to support two concerts a day (we played in the afternoon to cover expenses and to earn the evening "- cf. Cioccio a), nostalgia affective and even theft of the instruments just before the concert with Santana on July 25 at the Paramount Northwest in Seattle. Among the loot: a "Les Paul" Gold '69, a "335" with three pickups in which was engraved "Altaloma, two and two low Djivas Ovation. (Source: Mussida).
But the rewards were incomparable including having played with names such as Little, Santana, Beach Boys, Allmann Brothers Band, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Peter Frampton and having been promoted from a mere "special guest" on "Top of the Bill" . More than that, really could not.
In the first two months of the tour, the opening concert was held July 6, 1974 at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park, New Jersey and later in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Boston, and is dated August 22 the only Canadian date.
It was at this stage that an officer of Manticore Mario medius, was planning to publish a live album by pulling the band's most successful concerts: the closing of New York on 31/08/74 and in Toronto on 22/08 .
The success of "Cook" - published in Italy under the name "PFM Live in USA" - was the major point of entry to the 150th place in the Billboard charts, what ever happened to an Italian group. So the group left for New York in mid-November.
In this second installment, the shows were about fifteen, and now the PFM alternated as the main attraction in a star such as Peter Frampton that the tour would have extracted the lucky "Frampton Comes Alive!" (25 million copies sold) and God knows what would happen if he decided to Awarded to settle in America. But Christmas is approaching and the desire to return home was heavy winds in the group as to create real personal conflicts. The cases were two: either leave or stay.
Flavio Premoli was perhaps the most tied to the family and traditions, and also pressed for the return Mussida and Pagani began to have doubts about staying.
Djivas and Di Cioccio instead, chose to continue but in the end, team spirit prevailed and after a final concert on 21/12/1974 at the Academy of Music in New York, the boys returned to Italy. No, I think, can ever blame them.
"Live in USA" is a beautiful testimony of what they did in the shadow of the "Star Spangled Banner." Over 45 minutes of continuous music from seasoned Prog winks, Mediterranean, contamination, and time, but so much warmth.
To play with no regrets because in the end, the tour of the PFM is one of the greatest migrations of our rock of those years.
