Eric Bray - Some Blues Some Happies A Bachata (2018)

A fan of Elvis Costello, Wilco, Randy Newman, and Radiohead, these songs follow in the singer/songwriter vein, and try to bring a bit of heart and humor to the themes of love, longing, loss, and renewal.

Born and raised in the Delta (of Central California!) this child of the suburbs found little interest in Blues or Country Rock music till he started playing guitar himself. A fan of Elvis Costello, Wilco, Randy Newman and Radiohead, these songs follow in the singer/songwriter vein of trying to bring a bit of heart and humor to to the themes of love, longing, loss, and renewal.

Thanks to the considerable talents of producer/musician TJ Eckleberg, a modern touch is added to these Rock, Blues and Country Blues songs. There are also songs in a genre I like to call “Happies” and hence the title - Some Blues Some Happies a Bachata. A lover of Latin dance styles like Salsa and Bachata, there is also a Bachata remix – "Cada Flor" - added as a bonus track. TJ plays multiple instruments on all tracks and his solos are featured on five tracks on the CD. I’m also joined by local Kyoto musicians, Dale Ward (guitar- "Ofuro (Bathtub) Happies"), Mark Willis (mandolin – "This Day" and "Still Dancing") and Akira Kondo (bass- "This Day" and "Ofuro (Bathtub) Happies").
