Collection of Hits from Mike and The Mechanics 1985-2011 is an expansive retrospective covering more than two decades of material from the acclaimed project founded by Mike Rutherford. Released in 2011, this set traces the group’s evolution through polished rock songwriting, emotional ballads, and sophisticated pop-rock arrangements. While often associated with progressive rock roots through Rutherford’s background, Mike & The Mechanics became equally known for memorable hooks, strong vocal performances, and thoughtful lyrics. This compilation blends signature favorites with later-era recordings, showing the consistency of the band’s melodic craftsmanship across changing musical eras. Songs such as Silent Running, Over My Shoulder, and All I Need Is A Miracle stand alongside deeper cuts and newer selections, offering a broad portrait of the catalog. For long-time listeners and newcomers alike, this collection provides an excellent overview of one of Britain’s most enduring adult rock acts.
