Red Hot + Rio is a compilation album produced by Béco Dranoff and Paul Heck as part of the Red Hot AIDS Benefit Series intended to promote AIDS awareness. This installment is a contemporary tribute to the bossa nova sound, especially the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim. This release has proven to be one of the Red Hot series' more successful projects, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars for AIDS charities around the world.

This album's got lots of nice jazz fusion tracks, blended with the nice R&B tip that the band usually has. Titles include "Love In the Dark", "Soho", "One Step To A Miracle", "Smile", and their great cover of "Always There".

This England-based dance and funk, but mostly jazz, band brings nothing but energy to this project. The production is sleek, and the arrangements are precise. Maysa Leak reaches her higher notes without abandoning the fullness of her unwavering lower range. Half of the songs on this album utilize her vocals, while the others are instrumentals. The instrumental tracks feature bebop-influenced solos, in particular "L'Arc en Ciel de Miles," which is an admirable tribute to the late famous jazz trumpeter. However, each song's solo is just as riveting as the next. The one constant on this album is the steady strum of bassist Randy Hope-Taylor. Contrary to the group's name, their music is anything but incognito – it's excellent and as conspicuous as ever.

Universal TV UK's Connected: '90s 12" Mixes features 36 cuts over three discs culled from the clove-smoked DJ bins of the mainstream '90s. Using the instantly recognizable four-note jam from the Stereo MC's as its impetus and lead-off cut, Connected collects all of the extended versions that listeners were duped into buying during the age of the CD-single, like eight minutes of the Soup Dragons' "I'm Free," a remix of Deee-Lite's "Groove Is in the Heart," and the bass loop version of Stone Roses' "Fools Gold," resulting in an overly long trip (pub crawl) down memory lane that would have been fine had it been streamlined into a single disc. Sadly, no drugs or light sticks are included.
