A witty, imaginative songwriter, crisply concise guitarist, and convincing singer, Baton Rouge Larry Garner is the proverbial triple threat - and a good bet to rise to blues stardom in the immediate future. His major-label debut is a wondrous collection filled with songs that don't embrace simple cliches ("Four Cars Running," "Another Bad Day," and "Shak Bully" are anything but routine). "Miracles of Time" is almost pop-soul in its structure, while "Rats and Roaches in My Kitchen," Garner's lowdown tribute to swamp blues pioneer Silas Hogan, benefits from Sonny Landreth's burrowing slide guitar.

Singer/guitarist Larry Garner hails from the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where the legen- dary nightclub Tabby’s Blues Box was his proving ground during the 1970s and 1980s. After winning the International Blues Challenge in 1988, he made his recording debut with the British JSP label in 1994 and has since released numerous albums on the Verve, Evidence, Ruf Records and DixieFrog labels.
All in all, Garner has been bringing his electric Louisiana blues and soul to the people for over four decades. He’s a five-time Blues Music Award nominee and member of the Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame - a tasteful guitar player who sings with both humor and emotion who has also earned a reputation as a first-class songwriter and storyteller.

Folks in Europe were hip to Larry Garner long before most blues fans in the states. The Baton Rouge guitarist had already toured extensively overseas, with two British albums to his credit, before Verve issued his stunning domestic debut, You Need to Live a Little, in 1995. Rooted in the swamp blues tradition indigenous to his Baton Rouge environs, Garner brings a laudable contemporary sensibility and witty composing skills to his craft. Inspired by local swamp bluesmen Silas Hogan and Clarence Edwards, Garner learned how to play guitar from his uncle and a couple of gospel-playing elders. After completing his military service in Korea, he returned to Baton Rouge and embarked on a part-time musical career (he worked at a Dow chemical plant for almost two decades until his recent retirement)…
