The fourth Thy Catafalque album in five years from the prolific Katai, 'Naiv' is yet another style-blending tapestry of progressive metallic rock. The record seamlessly weaves elements of Hungarian folk music, seductive female vocals, colorful horns, and synthwave into a potent cocktail of chimeric and unmissable hard rock splendor.

Ever since the project’s humble beginnings in the late 90’s, Thy Catafalque and its creator Tamás Kátai has been slowly but steadily crafted an organic, dynamic and unique mixture of black metal and Hungarian folk, post-rock and ambient. Lengthy songs with raw distorted guitars brickwalled by dense keyboard section and synths, unorthodox tempo and mood changes, indecipherable lyrics. Over the years Kátai widened this already complex sound with industrial soundscapes, touches of classic and modernist music. In short he’s closer to Béla Bartok than Darkthrone. And his craft nowhere as dizzying and head-spinning than Catafalques’s sixth full length album, Sguur. Compared to the stark, more lineal Rengeteg, Sgurr is about as experimental as Catafalque can get.

With "Meta", the ever-evolving Thy Catafalque transforms once again. The Hungarian progressive/experimental metal project, helmed by composer, lyricist, and multi-instrumentalist Tamás Kátai, takes a heavier, more direct tack than on last years sprawling "Sgùrr". Katai effortlessly weaves idiosyncratic progressive passages and folk melodies through this (much) heavier and more metallic album. Thy Catafalque's enduring unpredictability makes it one of metal's most unique bands, and 'Meta' is yet another distinct and indispensable piece of their integral catalog of albums.

Thy Catafalque are now streaming their complete new masterpiece, 'Geometria', which has been released on May 4th, 2018. Mastermind Tamás Kátai states: "Geometria is definitely the smoothest Thy Catafalque album. Although there are some really heavy moments here and there, in general the record is adventurous, free and playful with a decent amount of vocals, violin, saxophone and even a trumpet clearly indicating that metal is but one component here. We enjoyed creating this one big time, and I'm happy to have 'Geometria' in the catalogue"…
