Martine Viard - Georges Aperghis: Recitations (2000)

Weird and vertiginous, the word is given a rough time in Georges Aperghis's recitations, presented through the voice of his favourite interpreter, Martine Viard, to whom the score is dedicated. this work laid the foundations for a theatre of the absurd; a musical theatre based on lettrism (a repudiation of meaning), both comical and serious. The wolds pirouette and create double meanings, tangle and pile up, repeat themselves in bursts and overlap their meaning. For the most dazzing of Georges Aperghis's works, Martine Viard missapropriates everyday expressions, stammers, purrs, holds, her nose and distorts her mouth, as in a film cartoon.
