When a German jazz band made a big splash over the last years, bassist Robert Landfermann was probably onboard. Hard to think of anyone hwo was on so many successful jazz explorations, whether with Pablo Held's internationally acclaimed trio, or Matthias Schriefl's shrill-shimmering Shreefpunk. Landfermann has played with such stars as John Scofield and lee Konitz, while continuing to pursue his own projects. Now Landfermann presents his CD Night Will Fall on the upscale Munich-based Pirouet label. And with it, a sensational quintet celebrates its recording premiere; German saxophonists Christian Weidner and SEbatian Gille, Austrian pianist Elias Stemeseder, and American drummer Jim Black make up Landfermann's dream band - all are brilliant technicians with a sense of empathy.
