Seven Minute Silence was formed in the Spring of 2008 by Lead Guitarist Matt Bidart, (Former) Bassist Miguel Caraballo and Drummer Nick Bidart with a vision of producing catchy, heavy music. In the Summer of 2008, 7MS found a Vocalist/Lyricist in Ryan Mote. Mote recorded a couple of tracks with the band but departed a few months later to attend to his family and other projects. The band reformed in the Fall of ’08 with Lead Vocalist/Rhythm Guitarist John Ingles.

In April 2009, the band entered Love Juice Studios in Riverside, CA to record the “This Disaster” EP. Looking back on the release, “This Disaster” was 7MS at its rawest, most infantile period. The EP featured the tracks “Dilemma”, “Never Coming Home”, “Sense Of Urgency” and the title track “This Disaster”.

In December of 2009, the band re-entered Love Juice Studios for their full length release entitled “Light Will Come Next”. The full length was released on April 5th, 2010 and featured 11 songs (7 new songs + re-mastered versions of the 4 tracks found on the “This Disaster” EP). “Light Will Come Next” is where the band began to truly craft its own unique sound. Two of the most popular tracks on the album “Excuses, Excuses” and “Say Hello To Goodbye” saw featured airplay on X 1039 (the Inland Empire’s Alternative Rock Station). “Light Will Come Next” was also the band’s first take at stepping outside the traditional “Metal” boundaries with the album’s closer “Halo” (an electronic gem saturated with hints of Violator-era Depeche Mode melodies).

Shortly after the release of “Light Will Come Next”, Bassist Miguel Caraballo stepped down to concentrate on other work-related opportunities and was replaced by Curtis Christy (who remained with the band from May 2010-November 2010, until the return of Caraballo on Bass).

The beginning of 2011 saw the band hard at work, writing music and playing shows up until 7MS decided to head back into the studio. June 2011 saw the release of “New American Depression”, a six-song EP which is the strongest material the band has released thus far. N.A.D. shared a more “commercial” sound, yet still maintaining all the melodic hooks, duel guitar harmonies and huge choruses that are at our core.

Miguel Caraballo exited the band again in July 2011, shortly after the N.A.D. release. In October, the band found Miguel’s replacement in Ryan Deramos, a friend of Vocalist John Ingles who was also a former band mate of Ingles in High School. The band is currently writing material for their next studio EP, looking to be released in the early months of 2012. All we can say at this point is that this next album is shaping up to be a monster of its own. According to John, “these new songs have a certain energy to them that is undeniable… We’ve taken our traditional Alternative Metal sound and added a pop-punk aesthetic that I think fans will certainly enjoy.” Be on the lookout - the seven minute nation is growing.
