The sound has been called "Bayou funk" or "Swamp Boogie" over the years. Consisting of influences from rock to country to blues to jazz to funk to jam to gospel, the album comes out sounding like a blend of St. Louis blues and New Orleans funk.

The Scandaleros are from St. Louis, Mo and have been playing music in the area for over a decade. The most recent lineup has finally settled into place and decided to record an album. "A Confluence on South Broadway" is the bands first release. It reflects their strong influences which are steeped in St. Louis blues, rock n roll, gospel, funk, country, and a St. Louis spin on several Louisiana flavors as well. The 9 song release consists of original tunes mostly written by Carson C Mann (other than City Girls which is written by Harmonica player Phil Wright and Brian Sax) that reflect moments of personal involvement, trials, and victories and is more or less a celebration of the human spirit. With thoughtful and introspective lyrics which are easily adaptable to anyone's personal experience. All of this is set to a greasy helping of bayou funk and swamp boogie blues consisting of driving guitars, layered rhythms, thick harmonica runs, gospel driven organ swells that will take you to church, and a truly unique voice. The Scandaleros and their music are hard to categorize and their high energy live shows are something special to behold. The band is frequently joined by guests on stage including some of the top players in the St. Louis area for their live shows. This album is a glimpse into that live experience with the help of some of St. Louis's top performers. Frequent collaborators Adam Hucke (trumpet), Aaron Chandler (trombone), and Austin Cebulskii (saxophone) from the Funky Butt Brass Band lend their skills on a few tracks as well as vocalists Kari Liston, Emily Wallace, and Hillary Fitz and frequent guest/ sometimes Scandalero Phillip "Spanky" Manaois on keys. The name "A Confluence on South Broadway" reflects St. Louis's proximity to multiple rivers and how they all meet at some point. For musicians in St. Louis, that meeting point is often in the South Broadway area of the city, which is the hub of the live blues, rock, soul, funk, and jazz music scene. On any given night, you can find some of the areas top players on stage together after hours. This album reflects that sense of community.
