Ty Richards - Zillion (2017) {Tremolo Records}

Appropriately dubbed “Beck Zeppelin,” Ty Richard’s album Zillion brings back classic rock riffs set in front of a Beck style electric instrumental style. With enough drop outs and break downs to satisfy any electronica-head, Ty seemingly blends in the scratch that rock-purists have been asking for, a dirty guitar and a heavy bass line.

The album, seemingly set in a space-indie version of Galaga at times, gives shout-outs to albums like Beck’s Guero and U2’s Joshua Tree with a wide range of styles and rhythms. The leading track “Spaceman” gives the full taste of Ty’s ability as a producer and performer, and it gives the feeling of late night car rides to keep the party going. Ty invites anyone to sing, rock, or dance along to this fantastic blend that is perfect for the next age in indie-electronic. “Uncle Ben” is a bluesy track that cleans itself throughout to really bring out the Zeppelin and White Stripes styles.
