Zoë was a one hit wonder from about 9 years ago, with the Top 10 hit, Sunshine on a Rainy Day, which was a big brassy rock ballad that beamed so much energy & optimism that you felt it could actually lift anyone's spirits.Zoë @ Wikipedia
But apart from that and perhaps her follow up, Lighting, she soon disappeared into the mists of time. Which is a great pity because replaying the CD now one cannot fail to be impressed by her decent vocal range and good choice of sampled music, most of which was always upbeat.
Tracks like Mountains, Moonsister & Smile in the Darkness were radical departures from the more easily accessable stuff such as Sunshine on a Rainy Day. And that's probably why her career never really took off the way it should have done. Trying too hard to find the right mood took too long and as a consuquence never found that original Rainy Day magic.
