Autodesk Netfabb Ultimate 2020 R2 | 1.3 Gb
The Autodesk team is pleased to announce the availability of Netfabb 2020 R2 is a software application tailored for additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and 3D printing.
What's New in 2020.2 (Sept 2019)
Netfabb
Main menu
- The old menu style has been completely removed in favor of the new one.
- The menu structure has been updated across many functions of Netfabb, in Lattice Commander, for example.
Supports
- Lattice bar support can now be simulated and optimized directly in Netfabb! Generate the lattice support and launch the simulation.
- New algorithms now take improved care of undercuts of downskins.
- Bar supports, including bouquets of bar supports, can now be projected to freely defined starting anchors that Netfabb will attempt to use preferentially.
- With a new selection mode you can instantly and reliably select all support entities that are attached to the one you selected.
- Bouquets should now be more uniform in size. Previously, their sizes could vary considerably which was undesired.
- Bar supports can now have a maximum length, terminating in mid-air, if needed. This saves time and work for processes that do not require support connection all the way to the build platform.
No-build zones
- All no-build zones of a platform, user-defined or native to a workspace, are now listed in the dedicated section in the project tree, and you can toggle their visibility individually and globally.
- Many machine workspaces have had no-build zones added or updated, including machines with circular build platforms.
Machine workspaces
- New workspaces have been introduced, and existing ones have been updated.
Simulation results in Netfabb
- You can now display results regarding recoater clearance.
Slicing
- Every platform now has its own Slicing section, including machine workspaces.
- Creating slice stacks is now significantly more interactive. Every new stack is listed with its generation method that you can change even after generation. Furthermore, even stacks derived from other stacks are updated automatically when you modify an earlier stack!
- Undo and Redo have been implemented and expanded where applicable.
- Slice stacks can now be scaled independently in X and Y.
- While playing the hatch exposure animation, the hatch being drawn is highlighted for greater visibility.
- All slice operations received an option to store their values as custom settings as well as a toggle to keep or discard the original slice from the project tree.
- A Lua script example compares slice stacks across their layers. It graphs the degree of similarity and also displays the involved layer pair depending on which Z value you click within the graph.
Cutting
- Plane cutting has received a new option to create matching features on surfaces to help with reassembling parts.
- A new algorithm has been introduced for polygon cutting that is capable of maintaining colors and textures.
Packing
- All packing dialogs received an overhaul. Now they all contain controls to store to and recall packing settings from presets that you can define freely yourself.
Misc
- You can now change the order of parts in the project tree by drag & drop. Groups come always at the top, though.
- Netfabb now reads the Inventor file format and imports CAD bodies contained therein.
- A new orientation method sorts parts by their shape can then pack them with the new orientation
Autodesk Netfabb is a software application tailored for additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and 3D printing. It prepares three-dimensional files for printing and converts them into 2.5-dimensional slice files, consisting of a list of two-dimensional slice layers. To help users prepare the print, features are available for viewing, editing, repairing, and analyzing three-dimensional STL-files or slice-based files in various formats. To perform the print preparation operations, Netfabb uses an STL file format to create a mesh of the part.
According to Netfabb, there were already 80,000 users of its products worldwide before it became a part of the Autodesk family. Since Netfabb's acquisition by Autodesk in 2015, they have continued to expand its tools and capabilities year on year and 2020 is no exception.
The 2020 Release provides easier file sharing, and improved file import controls on homogenization and volume fraction. Controls for build plate adjustment and animations are enhanced.
Netfabb is available to customers in 4 different subscription models: Netfabb Standard, Netfabb Premium, Netfabb Ultimate and Netfabb Simulation.
