The hard life rhythm of Heiner's gray everyday life means working in a mine, drinking beer and going to bed with women-seldomly with his wife because of his baby son and neighbors downstairs. Meanwile his bored wife Gisela has sex with different men. But one day he gets caught between two mine cars and is seriously injured. It almost looks like the bed will only be there for him to sleep in the future. But she does not feel like giving up all fun for so long.
