The first international Supermodel - Veruschka Countess of Lehndorff – icon of over 800 covers of the most prominent fashion magazines from the Sixties onwards tells her story.
She was and is successful in the movies as well. Her scenes in "Blow up" have been cult to moviegoers for decades and now she is back again on the big screen in the new James Bond “Casino Royale”.
However, not many know about her background. Born into Prussian nobility as a privileged daughter of Count of Lehndorff, she became a WW II refugee after her father, who had collaborated with Count of Stauffenberg in the unsuccessful assassination attempt against Adolf Hitler in 1944, was executed in Berlin-Plötzensee. Many places of residence and 13 schools later, her rise to stardom as model and movie star began when she was discovered by Hugo Mulas in Florence and photo-graphed for an Italian magazine. Not content to be "just an attractive coat stand", she became interested in photography and later an artist in the visual media especially with her work "Transfigurations" in her own right.
