Una coppia senza figli incontra una giovane donna, Malvina, incinta di sei mesi. Strani legami legano il terzetto. Morto l'uomo accidentalmente, Malvina mette al mondo un bambino che consegna all'amica. Come il solito nel cinema di M. Ferreri, il contenitore scenografico della storia (una futuristica megalopoli dove coabitano Palermo, Milano, Ferrara, discoteche emiliane, supermercati lombardi) è suggestivo, ma dentro si muovono fantasmi impacciati dalle catene dell'ideologia. Fin quando mostra, funziona; quando comincia a dire, ristagna e affonda. Il solo modo di divertirsi è leggerlo in chiave di fumetto ironico-grottesco.
In this improbable, grotesque story about a couple who do not want to have children of their own, and a pregnant, single woman who needs a home for awhile, the relationship between the three protagonists is strange, at the very least. After Anna (Hanna Schygulla) and Gordon (Niels Arestrup) invite the expecting Malvina (Ornella Muti) to live with them, Anna becomes neurotically jealous and attempts suicide but is thwarted and in the end decides she really wants to be there for the baby when he/she comes into the world…
