In a strong start to 2020, Vocallion has reissued another batch of quad hybrid SACDs. Fans are getting a lot of rhythm and blues among other classic 70's quad reissues. The soulful and danceable Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes will surround listeners with a quad mix from their “Black & Blue” album along with the album “Wake Up Everybody”. Michael Dutton has gone back to the original analog masters and transferred them into the DSD domain in both quad and stereo on a single hybrid SACD.

Recording an album of arias written expressly for Farinelli, one of the most legendary castratos of the eighteenth century, is brave; his name invokes a world of superhuman vocal feats, remarkable pathos, and a uniquely strong and brilliant tone that, for obvious anatomical reasons, will not be replicated by modern singers. But that clearly does not scare Vivica Genaux who, along with René Jacobs and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, dives into Farinelli's repertory as if it were her very own.

Steven Vidaic is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He owns Immersive Records and Studios in Boulder, CO. He currently performs and records with Citizen Cope, Goodbye Champion and as a solo artist. In addition, he produces records for a wide variety of artists. Steven was awarded a Grammy in 2010 for his contributions as a Recording Engineer. This album is Vidaic's debut solo release bearing his own name. Known most prominently as Citizen Cope's keyboard player, Vidaic is featured here as songwriter, singer, and rhythm guitarist.

Eli and the Thirteenth Confession is the second album by New York City-born singer, songwriter, and pianist Laura Nyro, released in 1968. The album's themes are of passion, love, romance, death, and drugs, and the songs are delivered in Nyro's distinctive brash, belting vocals. Musically, it is a multi-layered and opulent work, including multi-tracked vocals and strings. The album's loose genre is pop, but it also incorporates elements of soul, gospel, jazz, and rock.

Longtime friends and musical collaborators Peter Epstein and Brad Shepik both became well established on the New York scene: Shepik as an intense and committed guitarist, Epstein as an equally versatile saxman, a superb composer and performer. It was Epstein who proposed this 2005 duo collaboration with both of them contributing pieces. Shepik suggested a young drummer he knew, Matt Kilmer, to complete the trio. Matthew Carl Lien is a Yukon, Canada based World music singer-songwriter and producer. His primary lyrical and musical focus is on environmental and cultural themes. Preferring his native San Diego to Los Angeles, he discovered Signature Sound recording studios in San Diego, California, which is owned by his friend and musician/producer Luis Arteaga whom he met earlier at Mix Masters, where he recorded most of his albums to date, with the exception of his Hybrid SACD "Arctic Refuge" which was recorded at Bryan Adams' Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He now has a fan base of millions in Taiwan and China, where he is known for his environmental music and his work with aboriginal and traditional cultures.

Caballé's Tosca is one of the most ravishingly on record, with scarcely a less than beautiful note throughout, save where an occasional phrase lies a touch low for her. José Carreras recorded Tosca twice in the 1970s–his best years–but his voice was much better for Colin Davis when recording this set in 1976 than it was for Herbert von Karajan's 1979 interpretation. Davis's direction is flexible but dramatic and finely detailed, and the secondary singers are all very good.

"Tales of Mystery and Imagination - Edgar Allan Poe" is the debut studio album by English rock band The Alan Parsons Project. The lyrical and musical themes of the album, which are retellings of horror stories and poetry by Edgar Allan Poe, attracted a cult audience. The title of the album is taken from the title of a collection of Poe's macabre stories of the same name. This 40th Anniversary edition features remastered Stereo version of the Original album mix and newly mastered in Surround Multichannel mix of the 1987's remix.

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds is a 1978 concept album by Jeff Wayne, retelling the story of The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells. Its format is progressive rock and string orchestra, using narration and leitmotifs to carry the story via rhyming melodic lyrics that express the feelings of the various characters. The two-disc album remains a bestseller, having sold millions of records around the world, and is the 38th best selling album of all time in the UK.

John Pizzarelli, one of the most celebrated performers bringing popular standards to a new generation, pays homage to Frank Sinatra with the release of Dear Mr. Sinatra. Early in his career, Pizzarelli opened for Sinatra on tour. His father, the jazz guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli, played on many of Sinatra's seminal recordings. Focusing on songs that were specifically written for 'Ol' Blue Eyes' and also featuring The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Dear Mr. Sinatra is in many ways the most personal of all the Sinatra tributes available.
