“That’s right. Where are you ranked among the female tennis players in the world, my dear?”
“Second,” Joni groaned.
“And how will you get to number one?”
“Practice, practice, practice.”
Mrs. Wiggins smiled. Joni did too, but only one of their smiles was sincere. It was times likes these that she regretted choosing the life of a tennis pro.
