Provides 32 projects featuring a variety of benches, stools and chairs. The projects include reproductions of 18th-century Windsors and contemporary adaptions; Shaker-style and Shaker-inspired; reproductions of high-style Queen Anne, Chippendale, Sheraton and Hepplewhite; and versions of caned seats, wicker and willow. The basics of selecting types of wood and purchasing particular parts are covered, as are techniques for hand and power tools, cutting and turning methods, joinery, gluing, clamping, finishes and weaving seats and backs.
