Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) represent a substantial public health concern, particularly among patients seeking care in gynecological and obstetric settings. While "classic venereal diseases," including syphilis, gonorrhea, chancroid, and lymphogranuloma venereum, continue to be prevalent in developing countries, their incidence has notably decreased in developed regions. In contrast, infections such as hepatitis B, HIV/AIDS, genital herpes, Chlamydia trachomatis, and HPV are becoming increasingly significant on a global scale.
