ADIRONDACK FURNITURE BUILDING FOR BEGINNERS

A long way has been made in our version of the Adirondack chair from the early varieties that were characterized by flat backs and seats—and we've added a matching table to complete the set. Don't be put off by the curved slats or the large amount of parts required for this project. Despite the fact that there are a few angles and curves to be cut, there is no sophisticated joinery to be found — everything is held together using deck screws. We chose cedar for these parts because it is a durable wood that can withstand the environment and is readily available in the 3/4- and 1-inch thicknesses that we needed. If you want to keep the chairs out of the weather, you may use pine instead.
