German Army handbook, 1939-1945

The Armed Forces Journal calls this book "a unique assembly of basic information." It is designed as a study of specialized military history for the historian, war gamer, or modeller. It deals with all aspects of the German Army's activies and gives an overall picture of the army and further lines of study for those who wish to delve more deeply into particular aspects of those activities. Why the German Army? In the 1939-45 war the German Army is of outstanding interest as a fighting force. Its efficient organization and advanced technical achievements contrast vividly with archaic horse-drawn equipment of many of its line infantry divisions. Its weapons show some, but by no means all, of the reasons the German forces proved to be such a difficult opponent.
