From Idea to Book (Start to Finish)

This book describes how an author gets an idea for a picture book and develops and illustrates it. Also discussed is the publication process, from editing to printing to distribution. Each spread includes a color photograph on the right; the easy text opposite states the facts in an interesting manner. The story that actually goes from "idea to book" is Nancy Carlson's It's Not My Fault. This is never stated in the text, but is shown in the photographs. This title is useful as an introduction to student-made books. Both grade-level and reluctant readers may enjoy it in its curricular context.
