What you'll learn
Beginning Skills and Concepts for Computing provides a foundation for moving to an intermediate level of client-side and server-side computing. Topics include: Computing basics; GUI/CLI interfaces; Information Gathering; Files and Directories; Application basics; Configuration settings; and Getting help. The course is designed to save you many hours of learning these topics individually and putting the context together yourself. This course is the same material as Part A of the Essential Skills and Concepts for Computing (ESC4C) course, and is a prerequisite for moving to the intermediate level material in ESC4C. ESC4C is also offered on Udemy for $15 with the following promo code: ESC4C15.
Requirements
A computing environment similar to what was used in developing the course material is recommended, but not required. The course was developed on a Windows 10 laptop with Python v3.6 and Oracle's Virtual Box running two virtual machines (CentOS v7 and Ubuntu v16). Setup videos are available on my "Strong Start Computing" YouTube channel.

NOTE: This free course was taken directly from Part A of my Essential Skills and Concepts for Computing (ESC4C) course, and therefore there are many references to ESC4C. This free course just covers beginning-level skills and concepts (e.g., ESC4C-Part A) , and is a prerequisite for the ESC4C intermediate-level material. Also, this free course does not include the ESC4C Reference Guide.
