Application layer protocols are the interface between user applications, like a web browser, and the data network. Most people use a smartphone, and simply having a single app installed on your phone, you will use many application layer protocols which you may not be aware of. Finally, you'll learn how DHCP, NTP, and DNS are used as the supporting cast of protocols to enable surfing the web to be a relatively seamless process.
