Pin-Up and Glamour Photography by Kate Turning

Photographer Kate Turning started as a photographer in the pop music industry, still shaping top selling album packages round the globe(most recently she worked with Britney Spears on her latest Circus), moving on to editorial work in Milan, and then to Singapore and Hong Kong where she did her advertising work.

“It is very important to develop a personal style” in order to succeed in the hyper-competitive world of photography, she says, and young photographers must make it a priority to nurture and enhance their own true inner voice. “My style is very fantasy oriented, and so I was having trouble getting out of the music world, where a fantasy approach was accepted and admired.”

She orchestrates her photographs like frothy Rossini bonbons, bursting with detailed embellishment and an ever-present sense of fun and imagination. Her deep love of painting in all its forms from the Old Masters to Pop Art, can be seen in her bold use of color and innovative lighting. Kate is a graduate of Art Center College of Design.

She presently divides her time between New York and Los Angeles with her husband and production partner Steven Jacobi.
