Happy New Year! Dancing Times offers you “all the As” for the start of 2019, from interviews with English National Ballet’s Alina Cojocaru, Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton du Beke and international choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, to advice about how best to prepare for auditions for young dancers planning to go on to full-time vocational training. That’s not all, however, as we also hear about Tamas Detrich, the new artistic director of Stuttgart Ballet, find out about the developments in the dance scene of Peru, and plan ahead for holidays with social dancers in mind.
In addition, we meet our Dancer of the Month, Will Bozier, who is taking on the role of The Swan in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake at Sadler’s Wells and on tour around the UK; start a new series written by Gerald Dowler about the history of ballet in the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1961; and cast our eyes back over the most recent series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Speaking of Strictly, for the past three years we have correctly predicted the winner of each series by publishing their picture on the front cover of the magazine even before they have competed in the finals. Will we be right again this time around? When this magazine reaches you, the winner will already have been announced and you will be able to see for yourself!
