The issue on Water: Ownership and Accountability brings to light varying issues in India's water conservation and prevention of water crises. We discuss community participation in revival of water bodies in Bangalore, the need to address varying geological factors while strategising for conservation, addressing policy and state initiatives. Questions pertaining to community and state ownership of water and the challenges stemming from it are addressed in different articles. We also speak with economist and water policy expert Mihir Shah on the need to take holistic measures for conservation.
