    Über die österreichisch-ungarische TEGETTHOFF-Klasse wurde in dieser Reihe schon berichtet1. Es gibt mehrere Gründe warum man einen eigenen Band über die SZENT ISTVÄN herausgeben wollte. Zum 10. Juni 1998 naht der achtzigste Jahrestag der Versenkung, auch wurde das Schiff in den letzten Jahren von den Tauchern „wiederentdeckt" und mehrmals besucht. So konnte man einige Fragen zum Schiffsverlust klären. Auch hat man beim Studium der Unterwasseraufnahmen und bei der sorgfältigen Analyse der alten Filme der Versenkung einige neue Details entdeckt. Ei­nige dieser Abweichungen führten letztendlich zum Unter­gang des Schiffes. Ein kroatischer Schiffsmodellbauer, Herr Zeljko Prsa aus Vinkovci hat diese Unterschiede auch zeich­nerisch dokumentiert. So kann man jetzt dem interessier­ten Leser etwas Neues bieten.
