Known to their grudging admirers in the RN as "Salmon and Gluckstein, Scharnhorst and Gneisenau are long overdue for tje Profile treatment. They were skilfully handled in the early days of the World War II, both as raiders in the Atlantic and as battle units in the Norwegian campaign. Even when they were bottled up in Brest they eventually extricated themselves by their dash up in Channel in 1942, but thereafter the luck seemed to run out.
