Till Lindemann's (Rammstein) Zunge 2025 contains all the songs from the original Zunge album released in 2023, plus nine additional bonus tracks.
"Zunge" is presented as a debut album of Till Lindemann from Rammstein, but in fact it's a continuation of the band called Lindemann, which was initially planned as a supergroup of Till and Peter Tägtgren from Hypocrisy and Pain. Tägtgren has left that project, because he recorded the most of material, while was always in the shadow of his bandmate's popularity. Eventually Peter concentrated on own bands and Till recruited less famous performers for his project, led solely now.
The music of the albums with Tägtgren was more of an attempt just to have fun. "Zunge" also has some humor, but still it's more serious and personal for Till Lindemann. Moreover, "Zunge" has a couple of openly autobiographical songs. On the title track Lindemann sings about his controversial style of poetry. On "Altes Fleisch" he sings about ageing.
Of course, music-wise "Zunge" is similar to the albums with Tägtgren and to the later works of Rammstein, while it's heavier than the latest records of the main Lindemann's band. "Nass" and "Lecker" are especially aggressive, the oldman roars there with his aged raspy voice like a bear. The other powerful hits are "Altes Fleisch", "Sport Frei" and the march-like "Du hast kein Herz".
The title track is majestic. The Tägtgren albums didn't have such epic songs. This atmosphere is close to a one from "Mein Herz brennt" or "Reise, reise" of Rammstein. "Übers Meer" also features a similar mood. About the same deep are choruses of "Schweiß". There are several inordinary songs on "Zunge". "Tanzlehrerin" is a beautiful acoustic ballad. "Alles für die Kinder" sounds like a counting rhyme for children's games. "Selbst Verliebt" is a calm song with vocals and keyboards only. The hidden track "Ich rödel" resembles the Schlager music.
"Zunge" is more than interesting. It's better than the albums with Tägtgren and without any problems challenges the later works of Rammstein. The material is diverse and memorable. Of course, the name of Till Lindemann causes major attraction and it's a great reflection of the artist at the current stage of his career. That's exactly how an evolution of Till's solo project should go.
