Classical / Avant-garde / Opera

An opera based on a tragicomedy written by Garcia Lorca. It is about a gentle, older man who marries a young girl and is betrayed by her already during the first night. More electronic music here than in Satyricon. Maderna performs some magic with tapes which, at the time, were hard to do. These days, modern studios can easily re-create the desired effects.

The cast is a bit complicated. Perlimplin is embodied by a flute, he has no real text, although the supposedly spoken words are put in between brackets in the booklet. The mother-in-law is a saxophone. Other characters in this piece are represented by both an actor or actress and a singing voice.
