As promised, the next four of a 12cd box set. Tomorrow the last four, after which I'll have to be true to my word and scan the accompanying book(let). I'm not particularly looking forward to that ordeal, hm.

The photo above pictures Schat at the age of ca. 37 and was taken from the booklet.

On albums 5 to 8 a couple of award-winning compositions, such as the Canto General, and a children's opera, the title of which I fell immediately in love with - "Aap Verslaat de Knekelgeest" (= Monkey Defeats the Bone Demon).
Sunday's part, on cd12, the famous "Toonklok" (= Tone Clock). True musicians on this board may try to explain to us why this piece was received as a novelty in the world of international avant-garde music; in the booklet I read about its specifics, but I'm afraid music theory is complete gibberish to me.
