Altair HyperWorks Solvers 2017.0 with Help | 1.5 Gb

Altair announced a new release of HyperWorks Solvers 2017, is a collection of finite element and multibody dynamics solvers for structural, fluid-dynamics and systems simulation. These solvers can be employed for simulation driven design as well as design optimization.

OptiStruct: Design and optimization software using finite elements and multibody dynamics

Altair OptiStruct is an industry proven, modern structural analysis solver for linear and non-linear mechanical problems under static, dynamic, and thermal loads. It is the market-leading solution for structural design and optimization. Based on finite-element and multi-body dynamics technology, and through advanced analysis and optimization algorithms, OptiStruct helps designers and engineers rapidly develop innovative, lightweight and structurally efficient designs. OptiStruct is used by thousands of companies worldwide to analyze and optimize structures and mechanical systems for strength, durability, noise and vibrations, heat transfer, as well as impact.

The major items for the 2017 release are:

- Puck Failure Criteria
- Inertia Relief for models with greater than 6 rigid body modes.
- User-defined material (beta)
- Friction table support for Nonlinear Analysis
- Material Coordinate System for Solid Elements
- Complex Eigenvalue Analysis for Acoustics
- Power output for Heat Transfer (SPCFORCE)
- 64-bit OptiStruct support (Beta)

RADIOSS: Finite element solver for linear and nonlinear problems

Altair RADIOSS is a leading structural analysis solver for highly non-linear problems under dynamic loadings. It is highly differentiated for scalability, quality and robustness, and consists of features for multiphysics simulation and advanced materials such as composites.
RADIOSS is used across all industries worldwide to improve the crashworthiness, safety, and manufacturability of structural designs. For over 25 years, RADIOSS has established itself as a leader and an industry standard for automotive crash and impact analysis.
In the RADIOSS 2017 release, physics modeling capability has been expanded to include additional advanced material and failure laws. Improved simulation driven innovation was enabled by improvements to solver robustness and accuracy and strong ties to optimization. Computation performance has been improved such that 16300+ cores could be used to simulate a 10 million element full vehicle model. RADIOSS has become even easier to use with the addition of new automated ways to handle poor solid element quality and contact initial intersections. Ease of use was improved with new composite modeling input that better matches the manufacturing process.

MotionSolve: Multibody dynamics solver

MotionSolve is a state-of-the-art multibody solver available in HyperWorks. It has a complete set of modeling elements and powerful numerical methods to support a full set of analysis methods. The accuracy, speed and robustness of MotionSolve have been validated through extensive testing with customer models and test data. MotionSolve also offers unmatched compatibility with ADAMS/Solver input.
In version 2017, MotionSolve brings new capabilities, added functionalities to the existing capabilities and improvements in performance.

AcuSolve: General purpose finite element computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver

The 2017 release of the AcuSolve product suite brings major advancements in CFD modeling capabilities to HyperWorks users. The latest release of the software contains an expanded suite of physics, enabling the simulation of transitional turbulent flows, immiscible multiphase flows, and advanced moving mesh capabilities. In addition to the new physics that are supported with the 2017 release, the software also contains enhancements to existing features, such as an expanded selection of RANS turbulence models, enhancements to the accuracy of non-conformal mesh interfaces, and usability improvements for automatic splitting of nodes.

HyperXtrude Solver: Finite element based solver for simulating metal extrusion, polymer extrusion, friction stir welding, billet forging, and resin transfer molding processes

Altair HyperXtrude is a powerful suite of solvers used by the industry for metal extrusion, polymer extrusion, friction stir welding, billet forging, and resin transfer molding. The main focus of the suite is on metal and polymer extrusion solvers.
Today's extrusion companies are forced to produce a higher mix of complex profiles in shorter product development cycles while simultaneously reducing their production costs. HyperXtrude is a simulation tool developed to analyze and validate the design of extrusion dies and process. The HyperXtrude solver enables production engineers to analyze material flow and heat transfer inside a die during extrusion to validate die designs which in turn helps to reduce or eliminate costly and time-consuming die trials. These solvers come with an easy to use CAD based interface.
