Autodesk has released AutoCAD Plant 3D 2026.0.1 Toolset is an extension of AutoCAD, a computer-aided design (CAD) application intended for engineers, architects and construction experts to develop 2D and 3D drawings of products and workpieces with precision.

P&ID Enhancements in Visualization and Mapping (What's New in 2026)
The visualization of specific P&ID dialogs has been improved to enhance the user experience. Also, the mapping of child classes from parent classes has been improved for increased ease of use.

Dialog Box Enhancements
This release features improved icon displays and preview capabilities for various P&ID dialog boxes for better usability and visualization.

Control Valve Browser
- The Control Valve Browser dialog box now displays individual icons for all valve body and actuator classes. It also creates a preview of the combined control valve when you select a body type and an actuator type from the lists.

Actuator Browser
The Actuator Browser dialog box now displays individual icons for all actuator classes.

Convert to P&ID Object
The Convert to P&ID Object dialog box now displays individual icons for all P&ID classes.

P&ID Object Mapping Enhancements
The P&ID Object Mapping feature now allows you to map P&ID parent classes to 3D classes. Once you set the mapping rules for P&ID parent classes, all child classes automatically inherit these mapping rules, eliminating the need to set mapping rules for individual child classes. You can acquire the mapping from the parent class or override it by clicking the icon before the Plant 3D Property options. Additionally, you can hold the Alt key and click the icon to reset all properties to either acquisition or override.

P&ID Modeler Performance
You can now enable GSF for P&ID modeler for better performance by using the PLANTLINELISTUSEGSF system variable.

Project Enhancements (What's New in 2026)
Several project-related functionalities now offer improved and extended capabilities.

Customizing Project Settings
You can now easily customize various project settings in Project Setup.

Rename a Project
- To rename your project, expand General Settings, click Project Details, and update the Project Name field under General Properties. This lets you personalize your project's name to suit your preferences.

Edit Project Symbol Style
- You can also edit the project symbol style directly from the Project Setup.

Managing Selection Lists
Recent enhancements to selection lists provide more flexibility and efficiency.

Shared Selection List for P&ID and 3D Classes
- You can now create a shared selection list. To do this, in the Selection List Property dialog box, click Add List. In the Add Selection dialog box, select the Create shared selection list option.

This shared selection list applies to both P&ID and 3D classes, so any changes you make in one class automatically update the other.

If you do not select the checkbox, the selection list applies only to either P&ID classes or 3D classes, not both.
Export and Import Selection Lists
You can export specific selection lists or all selection lists to an Excel spreadsheet. After making changes in the spreadsheet, you can import them back into the project.

This allows batch modifications of selection lists, saving time compared to changing them individually in Project Setup.
Redesigned Project Backup
The Project Backup dialog box now features a modern user interface. You can change the backup save location for the current project and open the backup location at the end of the backup process.

Note: AutoCAD Plant 3D does not back up unsaved changes if any drawings are still active and in use.
If other users check out Project Setup or drawings in collaboration projects, the dialog box displays a warning message. You can still proceed with the backup, but unsaved changes are not included.

Redesigned Audit Project
The new Audit Project interface offers extended audit capabilities. The Audit Project dialog box displays when you right-click a project in the Project Manager and select Audit Project, or when you enter AUDITPROJECT at the Command prompt.

Click Audit to start and view the audit process. Once completed, you can check the log file to review the audit details.

3D Modeling Enhancements (What's New in 2026)

Editing Equipment Nozzles with Extended Substitutions
You can now use the Edit Nozzle grip to access extended options, making it easier to modify existing nozzle.

Note: The PLANTEDITALLNOZZLES system variable controls whether the Edit Nozzle grip is enabled for fabricated equipment in 3D models. This setting is enabled by default. If it is disabled, hold down the Ctrl key and select a nozzle to show the Edit Nozzle grip.

Individual nozzles
Use the flyout menu to access various options for modifying individual nozzles.
- Change Size: Selects a different nozzle size.
- Change Pressure Class: Selects a different pressure class.
- Change End Type: Selects a different end type.
- Edit Nozzle: Opens the Edit Nozzle dialog box for more detailed modifications.
Extending Substitutions for Reducing Fittings
You can easily substitute reducing fittings in 3D models with the extended menu options.
For fittings like reducing fittings, you may need to change the main size and reducing size separately, or replace a two-port fitting with a three-port fitting.
The PLANTEXTENDEDSUBSTITUTION system variable controls how these options are displayed. When PLANTEXTENDEDSUBSTITUTION is on, all available substitution options are grouped into different categories, making it easier to find the right component.

When PLANTEXTENDEDSUBSTITUTION is off, all available substitution options are displayed in a single list.

Equipment Body Preview When Adding Shapes
The equipment body preview now displays when adding shapes in the Create Equipment dialog box.

Improved Port Name Display in Property Palette
You can now select a port from the Port Name drop-down list in the Property palette to view its properties individually.

3D Modeling Performance
- To improve performance, the default visual style in 3D models is changed from Realistic to Shaded, using the fast shaded mode.

Ortho Enhancements (What's New in 2026)

The Ortho Generation dialog box now includes two options to accelerate the ortho generation process:
- Skip Views That Are Already Up to Date: This option ignores views that are already up to date during ortho generation.
- Skip Views That Have Missing Models: This option ignores views with missing models during ortho generation.

Also, you can now display the direction of equipment nozzles in the Ortho Nozzle list, whether it matches the nozzle attachment port or the nozzle port, using the new PLANTORTHONOZZLEDIRECTION system variable.

Collaboration Workflow Enhancements (What's New in 2026)

Automatically Check In Modified Drawings
The Automatically Check In Modified Drawings option simplifies workflow management in several scenarios.
- Excel Import in Data Manager
- When you select this option, the system automatically checks in all affected drawings at the end of the import for collaboration projects. This eliminates the need for manual check-ins after the import is completed.

If you do not select this option, you must manually check in the affected drawings.
Update Multiple Ortho Drawings
- For collaboration projects, this option allows you to automatically check in all affected ortho drawings at the end of the ortho generation process.

Audit Project
- When you select this option during an audit, AutoCAD Plant 3D automatically checks in all affected drawings at the end of the audit. If you do not select this option, you must manually check in the affected drawings.
In addition to the Automatically Check In Modified Drawings option, the Audit Project dialog box includes the Audit Project Database option. When you select this option, AutoCAD Plant 3D also performs the audit database process in addition to the standard AUDITPROJECT command. If you do not select this option, only the AUDITPROJECT command runs.

Synchronize Report Files for Collaboration Projects
You can now synchronize report files in collaboration projects by enabling the new PLANTSYNCREPORTS system variable.
Place the report files in a newly created folder named ReportFiles within the local cache project root folder. Once you check in Project Setup, AutoCAD Plant 3D synchronizes these files to the cloud.
This allows other users to access and use the files when they open the same collaboration project or use the Refresh from Project option in an existing open collaboration project.
