Stunningly brutal and effective
Lucio Fulci's "The Smuggler" is a potent and brutal text of violence and mysoginism taking place in a world where these are the laws of the land. Although the violence in this film is characteristically extreme, Fulci distinguishes this from his more exploitive efforts by providing a smart, moving and sometimes funny script coupled with solid and inobtrusive direction.
