Homicidal - The story of a psychotic killer (1961)

Emily, eine attraktive junge Frau, checkt im Hotel Ventura ein und richtet eine merkwürdige Bitte an den Hotelpagen: Er solle sie in derselben Nacht noch heiraten, um anschließend die Ehe wieder zu annullieren. Er stimmt zu - verzaubert von Emilys Schönheit.
Nach der Zeremonie jedoch ersticht Emily den Friedensrichter und verschwindet. Die Polizei stellt fest, dass sie die Ehe-Urkunde mit dem Namen von Miriam Webster unterschrieben hat, die die Halbschwester eines zukünftigen Millionenerben ist.
Ein "Psycho"-Verschnitt von Trashmeister William Castle: Kitsch, brutale Gewalt, Familienkomödie und reichlich Spezialeffekte finden in dem Schauerfilmchen, das sich Mühe gibt, Meister Hitchcock nachzuahmen nebeneinander Platz. Das ist durchaus unterhaltsam und hat einen netten Twist am Ende.
Bei der Erstaufführung des Films gab es in Amerika eine sogenannte "Angst-Pause" in der Mitte des Films, in der Zuschauer mit schwachem Herzen das Kino verlassen konnten.

Emily, an attractive young woman checks into 'Hotel Ventura' and asks the bellhop a peculiar favour: He should marry her this very night, just in order to have the marriage annulled instantly afterwards. Puzzled by Emily's beauty, he agrees. After the ceremony, however, she stabs the justice-of-the-peace and disappears. The police find out that she signed the marriage-licence with the name of 'Miriam Webster', the half-sister of a soon-to-be heir of a huge fortune.
A 'Psycho'-rip off by William Castle, the master or trash: kitsch, brutality, domestic comedy and plenty of special affects all find their place in this little horror flick that is trying hard to copy the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. It is quite entertaining and offers a nice twist in the end.
During the movie's debut performance in the US there was a so called 'fear break' towards the end, giving the more timid among the audience a chance to leave the theater.
